We did a $1.6 million dollar renovation during 2006-2008, updating the plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems. Everyone wonders about this, even if they don’t ask. Fact is that the cost of being in Phi Psi is comparable to that of living in the residence halls.ġ0. Many people have the perception that it costs more to belong to a fraternity. From socials to Homecoming and Greek Week events to sporadic gatherings, we engage in a variety of activies with sororities and other fraternities in our Greek Community.ĩ. You’ll have plenty of opportunities for that in our fraternity if you so choose – officers, committee chairs, etc.Ĩ. Prospective employers like their applicants to have had leadership experience. Our members are actively involved in Dance Marathon Relay for Life, and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, among other philanthropic activities.ħ. We try to live that philosophy by making the commitment to complete 20 service hours per semester per member. They believed that we were put on this earth to be of service to others. The founders of our Fraternity believed that if you go through college, or go through life living only for yourself, that you’ve missed the point. If you want to do intramurals and you’re in our fraternity, you’re on a team.Ħ. You don’t have to wonder if you’ll be asked to be on a team. And if you’re interested in getting involved with those, they can help you do so.ĥ. Many of our men are involved with various campus activities and we encourage that. While no one is going to guarantee you a job just because you’re a Phi Psi, your fraternal connection will open doors that would not otherwise be available to you.Ĥ. Our chapter has a growing base of alumni and there are tens of thousands more from all chapters nationwide. You still have to do the studying, but your fraternity brothers are able and willing to help.ģ. It is important to the Fraternity that you do well, and we’ll do what we can to assist. Everybody wants to do well in college, but many people have some difficulties making the adjustment or have difficulties with particular classes. In short, this is your college home, one that you can come back to after graduation.Ģ. When you join a fraternity, you immediately have 90 - 100 guys to know and hang out with. Iowa State is a BIG university and it’s easy to feel lost. This is no fad it is a legacy to which all members have a responsibility.ġ. In the process of "building men", fraternity members benefit not only themselves but also their alma maters and their communitiesįurthermore, Greek men and women comprise less than 5% of the nation's population, yet represent the majority of America's presidents and vice presidents, Supreme Court justices, federal legislators, and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, as well as 80% of those elected to Who's Who in America. In general, Phi Psi can help educate its members in those social areas the college classroom leaves untouched. Together, Phi Psis are guided by the laws, rituals, and traditions of the Fraternity. The Iowa State chapter of Phi Kappa Psi is a group of college men who have, by their own choice, banded themselves together as brothers for life. Fraternity means friendship and fellowship.
